For over 150 years the Pensacola lighthouse has served as a beacon for those coming in by sea and a compass for anyone near the beach.

It’s a beautiful lighthouse and I knew I wanted to see it up close while we were camping at Pensacola Naval Air Station.

We went Sunday afternoon and unfortunately it was closed so we weren’t able to go inside. I’m going to plan a trip back on a day when it is open so we can go inside and explore the house and light.
Rumor has it, the lighthouse is haunted and that fascinates me even more.
My kids really want to climb to the top.
But on this day, we wandered the grounds

Played a little

Enjoyed the view

And spent some time on the porch, catching up with an old friend.

It was a great visit and I’m definitely looking forward to coming back and exploring inside.
