Frankie My New Kitten

The night after Christmas in 2023 my daughter and her husband were at a shopping center in Ft. Walton Beach. My daughter noticed two kittens staying close to the door at Khols and crying. She watched them for a while, and it did not take long to determine they had been abandoned.

She hasn’t been married long at all, and her husband has never seen the “we rescue all animals” policy that my sister, my daughter, and I live by.

He kept telling her that someone would get them, but she’s not built that way. She caught one but the other ran off into the woods behind the store.

They took the one she caught home and then went back to look for the other one.

Sadly, they didn’t find that one but had managed to rescue the other one.

Her husband has never spent a lot of time around animals. He had no pets when he was a child so getting used to my daughter’s cat was a slight challenge.

Now, they have brought a stray kitten into their house. This wouldn’t have been too much of a problem except that my daughter’s cat is kind of a b!$#h and hates all other cats.

Plus, they were moving to parts north in a few weeks and getting the cats to co-exist on top of moving did not seem like a good idea.

So, she called me. At 9:00 at night and told me the story.

By 10:00 they were at my house, and I had a new kitten.

He is a big boy and everyone thought he was older than he was. I’m a cat lady and know better. He was barely three months old.

I have five cats and adding another animal was not really in my budget. They agreed to pay for his first round of shots and then to have him neutered when it was time.

I could afford him from there on.

Troy was not thrilled but has long since resigned himself to this life, so he just sighed and walked away.

I named the kitten Frankie. I don’t know why but I saw him and just knew he was a Frankie.

The first trip to the vet confirmed he was just barely three months old and not ready to be fixed.

Which meant three months of Frankie being a kitten. If you don’t know about cats, they are little psychos until they’ve been fixed.

Frankie seemed to be a little extra wild, which means my husband changed his name to “Frankie the F@#^*r.”

These video clips show why Troy calls him that.

I sent them to my daughter and my son in law is EXTREMELY happy that Frankie is with me, not them.
