Several years ago, I started a Christmas tradition with my kids. Going to see the Christmas Lights at Bellingrath Gardens.

Bellingrath Gardens is an amazing 65-acre public garden and historic home in Mobile, Alabama.
The gardens are exquisite and are planted so multiple varieties of plants and flowers can be enjoyed throughout the year.
Many people visit in the spring and summer, just to marvel at the amazing garden.
At Christmas, Bellingrath transforms the garden into a Christmas Wonderland. People come from near and far just to wander the incredible grounds and enjoy the lights.
So, our tradition is to drive to Mobile, stopping at Bucc-ee’s on the way. We have a snack and do a little Christmas shopping. From there we’re off to Bellingrath.

It usually takes about 2 hours to walk through the gardens and enjoy the lights. Adult beverages and hot chocolate are available, and they have a beautiful gift shop to explore.

We have not explored the historic home, but I understand it is full of antiques and fine china. Coming back to explore the old home is on our list of things to do.
After leaving we find a nice restaurant in Mobile and have a big family dinner.
Finally, we start the two-and-a-half-hour journey home.
There is something magical about walking through that Christmas wonderland with my husband, children, and son-in-law. It’s a special trip and all of us look forward to it every year.
